Olga Evangelidou

Olga Evangelidou was born in Athens in 1988. She is a graduate of the Visual Arts Department at the Athens School of Fine Arts (2006-12), where she continued her studies in the master’s program (2014-2016), with the Onassis Foundation Scholarship (2015-16). Between 2012 and 2014, she attended classes at the Fashion Department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.

She holds a PhD from the Department of Theory and History of Art at ASFA (2017–2022) and received a scholarship from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (2019–2022, 2nd H.F.R.I. Call for PhD Candidates). Her doctoral dissertation, awarded with distinction (Excellent), is titled: “Women’s Fashion and Beauty Standards in the Aegean. The Case of Syros (1789–1850).”

She has participated in visual art exhibitions. In 2019, she received an award from Artworks (2nd Artist Support Program by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation), and in 2011, she was awarded First Prize in the young fashion designers’ competition (Next Generation) at Athens Fashion Week. She has also worked as a costume designer. In the academic year 2024/25, she is teaching the course “Costume Design and Art” in the Fine Arts Department of the Athens School of Fine Arts, serving as an Academic Fellow for both the winter and spring semester (“Acquisition of Academic Teaching Experience for Early Career Scholars Holding a PhD at ASFA.”) Her artistic work and research interests focus on fashion history, dress, and theatrical costume.
