We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Konstantina Kalfa, RCH Fellow for the year 2023, has been awarded the European ERC – Starting Grant for her research project “MCH-EsMed – How the middle class housed itself in the Eastern Mediterranean“. Konstantina made a great and intensive effort to prepare her a comprehensive ERC application and presented a solid and multifaceted research proposal on the history of architecture regarding housing in the wider region of the Southeastern Mediterranean in the second half of the 20th century, which secured her the European funding. Congratulations Konstantina!
Konstantina’s success is of particular importance for RCH, as it highlights the importance of the RCH Fellowships initiative as a way to provide essential support and assistance to researchers in the humanities, who are trying to cope with the difficult conditions of securing funding for their research.
We would like to express our gratitude to our excellent colleagues at the Institute of Mediterranean Studies – Foundation for Research and Technology — Hellas (IMS-FORTH), the project’s host institution, who also supported and assisted Konstantina throughout the process of preparing her application. IMS-FORTH is the only research institution in the country that has been awarded nine ERC grants, including now the one awarded to Konstantina Kalfa. Finally, we would like to thank all the academics who support the multifaceted activities of RCH, and especially the initiative of RCH Fellows.
To Konstantina, good luck with your project!
